Latest update

Planning permission for the 1st phase of the building has now been secured and we’re working on the detailed plans following lottery funding to cover the costs for this.

After the recent spate of break-ins at the Centre on the Mole, and the publicity this has generated, the OWT Trustees are delighted that local company VOG Fire & Security, have donated High Definition cameras with Night Vision to record all activity at the site. This will allow the police to identify any future unwanted people who enter the site.

Last year the BCWAC held a successful Public Open Day when a number of people registered an interest in using their sailing dinghies on Barry Dock. The Ocean Watersports Trust has now set up the WATERFRONT LEISURE CLUB, which permits the public to join the club and to use their own craft for sailing, on the Dock Waters. The times for use will be limited and co-ordinated with the other voluntary organisations and clubs. All users have to comply with the regulations laid down by Associated British Ports, as well as OWT Rules etc. and work under the supervision of the site Manager Mr Keith McIntyre. For more information contact Keith on 0785546 3293.

There is to be another PUBLIC OPEN DAY on the Saturday 20th May from noon to 4.00pm when all people interested in the COMMUNITY CENTRE are invited to attend to inspect the premises, see the planned developments, experience boating activities, and register their interest in joining the fast-growing users of the facilities under safe conditions. Also for the public to identify and advise on what activities they would like to join and support, at the centre, when it is completed in 2018.
